This is a project promoted by the Ibero-American General Secretariat aimed at fostering civic innovation in Ibero-America, in order to boost social transformation, democratic governance, and social, cultural and economic development. Civic Innovation is a process for solving social problems based on the use of innovative technologies (digital, social, ancestral) and methodologies, which brings the affected community itself on board. A process of this nature implies that citizens are no longer passive recipients of institutional actions, but become the protagonists themselves and actively participate in the search for solutions.
Civic Innovation has found its way to becoming the first arena for cooperation between citizens, governments, academia and private companies, by sharing an open and collaborative dynamism, and promoted by an international organization. In 2013, the 22 Ibero-American Presidents unanimously recognized the value of our initiative, and urged us to promote an agenda for civic innovation in the region over the coming years.
